SPECIALIZED APPROACH

Whether a student is shooting for top marks in high-level courses or struggling to pass a required class, I provide a one-stop, full-service shop. The aim is to help people of all ages exceed their ambitions and develop the skills to thrive on their own. To accomplish this, I work with clients to learn how to identify issues, develop strategies, and build confidence through success.

Every student has their own strengths and challenges, as well as their own goals. My style is highly personalized and adaptive. I get to know the students and their families as individuals. Through empathy and a breadth of approaches, I tailor my coaching to each client in a singular way to maximize success and minimize stress.

Unlike many of the tutoring companies out there, I don’t push some proprietary approach or any one methodology. I don’t care about any brand, only what works. And when you work with me, you work directly with me. I don’t farm out any of my services to less experienced tutors.

JOSHUA SCHER

I hold a BA with Honors from Brown and an MFA from Yale University. While at grad school, Yale awarded me the Audrey Wood Scholarship and prior to undergrad, the University of Virginia awarded me the Thomas Jefferson Scholarship. I grew up in Washington, DC where I attended Landon School.

In addition to working as an academic coach for over two decades, I served for several years as one of the Admissions Area Chairs for Brown University in LA County. In New York, I headed the Public Speaking and Theater Department for Stern College for Women. And I’ve taught at Wheeler High School in RI, Choate Rosemary Hall in CT, and run writing workshops at Shanghai Qibao Dwight High School.

I’m also an award-winning playwright, screenwriter, and novelist. Most days you can find me hiking with my dog or nursing his various parenting injuries.
